One particularly enterprising company -- Guiyang Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Development and Investment Group Co -- has already undertaken measures ahead of the onset of freezing temperatures, to ensure its normal production and operation as well as the safety of employees, according to Guiyang FTZ officials.
The company is a resident of the Guiyang Free Trade Zone -- located in Guiyang, capital city of China's Southwest Guizhou province.
Officials said the company has invested more than 28,000 yuan ($4,288) to stock up on anti-freeze supplies in advance. So far, it has bought six tents, two tons of industrial salt and a variety of emergency supplies.
In addition to ordering protective outerwear for trees and fire hydrants, safety warning signs have been set up in areas prone to freezing to ensure the safety of employees.
The company has also arranged for duty personnel to boost inspections of freezing conditions and to scatter industrial salt on icy roads.
To date, the company has set up eight safety warning signs, deploying 47 employees and more than 10 vehicles in its anti-freeze prevention efforts.
