A cross-border commodity trading center opened to the public in Guiyang Free Trade Zone, Southwest China's Guizhou province on Sept 5, becoming the first of its kind in Guiyang.
The center is located on the first floor of the Guiyang Free Trade Zone customs building, and covers an area of over 500 square meters. Various cross-border e-commerce companies exhibit more than 3,000 types of commodities at the center.
The orders placed by customers at the center will be directly sent to warehouses, supervised by customs, which will then deliver the commodities. Compared with the traditional order-and-delivery procedure that takes three to five days, the commodities ordered at the center will reach customers in as little as five minutes after being checked by customs.
Guiyang Free Trade Zone has been striving to develop cross-border e-commerce into a pillar industry. During the first half of this year, 21 new cross-border e-commerce companies registered in the zone, and 13,572 import and export orders were closed with a total cargo value of 146 million yuan ($21.37 million).
In the future, the zone will utilize its advantage as a core area of Guiyang's cross-border e-commerce pilot area, and explore the integration of online and offline cross-border e-commerce business.
It will learn from other free trade zones to optimize its business environment, attract more cross-border e-commerce companies, and contribute to Guizhou's foreign trade development.
