The future prosperity of the Guiyang Free Trade Zone -- located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- was top of the agenda at a high-powered meeting recently, officials said.
Luan Yan, secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Guiyang FTZ and the Guian New Area FTZ, convened the meeting on July 29, to outline plans for their economic development in the second half of the year.
He pointed out that Party organizations at all levels in the two zones should adhere to the spirit of the seventh plenary session of the 12th CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee -- held in Guiyang on July 22 -- making contributions to the province's efforts to win the battle against poverty and achieve the goal of building a well-off society by the end of 2020.
Luan said the two zones should focus on solving the challenges of attracting more investment and in implementing projects, striving their utmost to do a good job in investment innovation and in achieving quality outcomes.
During the meeting, he urged the two zones to help leading enterprises to advance the development of the real economy.
In addition, the Guiyang FTZ will accelerate the construction of a core area of a cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone, a logistics port and a bonded inspection and maintenance center, Luan said.
For its part, the Guian New Area FTZ will promote the construction of data centers for tech giants including Tencent, Apple and Huawei.
Under Luan's proposals, the two zones will work harder on finance and taxation, strengthening overall awareness of the need for risk prevention.
Officials said the measures will also require the two zones to strengthen their overall planning and scheduling of their economic operations to ensure the achievement of annual targets.
