The functions of the opening-up platforms in Southwest China's Guizhou province are expected to be improved, thanks to a number of agreements reached at the China Malaysia International Trade Exchange Promotion Conference, held at the China-ASEAN International Conference Center on Dec 8, which is located in the Guian New Area.

Guiyang Free Trade Zone is a new opening-up highland for China's outward economy and a pilot area for China's integration into the world economy, according to Luan Yan, director of the zone's management committee.
He said that as such the zone would actively explore ways to follow the integration trends to meet various challenges, injecting more dynamics into the economy.
Agreements signed at the conference will promote the free trade, economic cooperation, technological collaboration between China and Malaysia, he said.
Also, both sides are expected to give a full play to their respective tourism resources, jointly develop a tourism economy and development.
To further the overseas economic cooperation for Guian New Area and Guiyang, the free trade zones in both places are working on expansion of foreign trade and the cultivation of new industry trade forms, officials said.
By learning from the experience of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, both the free trade zones will advance their administrative approvals, commercial systems, resource allocations and property tax financing systems, to form a new pattern of all-round opening-up, officials said.
After the conference, representatives from both Chinese and Malaysian companies went on fact-finding tours of Guizhou Polar Bear Industry Co, Guiyang Free Trade Zone Yun Shang Fang Zhou -- an intelligent commercial complex -- and the demonstration center of Guiyang Free Trade Zone.
