Sci-tech innovation empowers Guizhou's manufacturing industry

Guizhou issued action plans for expanding capacity and improving quality of the service industry in May to consolidate the policy foundation for the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

Empowered by these policies, research institutes in Guizhou have forged close links with enterprises, delivering a host of high-quality sci-tech innovations. On June 17, a provincial key photovoltaic cable project filed by Zhong An Technology Group in Guiyang and Guizhou Material Industry Technology Research Institute received approval. Thanks to technological upgrades, Zhong An Technology has become BYD's sole wire and cable supplier in Guizhou and established partnerships with automakers including Chery and Geely.

Professor Zhang Jing's team at Guizhou University has been dedicated to new energy power generation for more than a decade. The team's grid connection inspection and simulation modeling technology for new energy power generation systems solves compliance challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in grid integration of new energy.

The technology has generated patent licensing revenue of 12 million yuan ($1.78 million), served 82 new energy power stations nationwide, and created over 110 million yuan in direct economic benefits. It has been selected as a recommended case for the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements in Chinese universities for 2026.

After two years of operation, the Guizhou Industrial Design City has attracted 22 resident enterprises, delivered more than 40 design outcomes, and generated around 50 million yuan in service revenue. The upcoming CMF center will open its R&D resources covering materials, colors, and surface treatment to small and medium-sized enterprises. Through professional sci-tech services, it will fuel innovation vitality in Guizhou's manufacturing industry.
