Yunyan pursues new heights through growth, advancement

In 2023, the GDP of Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, surpassed the milestone of 100 billion yuan ($13.93 billion), reaching 101.26 billion yuan, marking a historic breakthrough in economic development.

Over the year, Yunyan deepened its reforms, focused on innovation, and ignited development momentum, propelling various undertakings forward.

With 120 high-tech enterprises and 129 technology-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises, the district has become the driving force for development.

The district obtained provincial-level support for 157 scientific and technological projects, added two municipal-level science and technology enterprise incubators, and saw the signing of technology contracts worth over 3 billion yuan. Additionally, two high-level talent teams and 171 high-level and urgently needed talents were added to the district's talent pool.

The district's comprehensive investment promotion framework has taken shape, with 157 new industrial projects introduced, bringing in actual funds totaling 10.1 billion yuan. It was also included in the 2023 list of China's top 100 districts with investment potential.

Throughout the year, Yunyan was engaging in industrial transformation and optimization, thus accelerating the upgrade of its industrial system.

Upon the completion and operation of 360,000 square meters of standard factory buildings in the Yunyan Sanma Industrial Park, the first batch of 20 companies settled in the park. These companies brought in a total investment of 21.7 billion yuan, leading to a 33.7–percent increase in the total output value of the district's electronic information manufacturing industry.

The district's commerce and trade industry flourished in 2023. It added three commercial buildings with tax revenues over 1 million yuan, and five headquarters enterprises. Additionally, the number of overnight visits and per capita consumption in Yunyan increased by 62.3 percent and 11 percent, respectively, leading to the district's rise to the 7th position in the list of top 100 districts with suburban tourism strength.

Yunyan district has always prioritized improving people's livelihoods at the forefront of its development.

In 2023, the district's general public budget revenue increased by 14.26 percent, and the proportion of livelihood expenditures reached 87.09 percent.

The district built 4,151 new public parking spaces, 92 new cultural service venues, and 68 comprehensive outdoor fitness squares, thus enhancing the district's appeal.

Last year, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in Yunyan reached 49,517 yuan, ranking first in the province.

Looking ahead, Yunyan will continue to focus on industrial development, reform and opening-up, and improving people's livelihood.
