Music concert staged at Wenchang Pavilion

A Lantern Festival music concert was staged at Wenchang Pavilion in Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Feb 24.

Led by the Guizhou Provincial Folk Orchestra, the concert showcased the charm of traditional folk instruments, earning waves of applause and cheers from the audience.

Established in 2003, the Guizhou Provincial Folk Orchestra was honored with the title of "First National Excellent Folk Orchestra" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2018. It has staged performances in many countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, France, and Australia.

In addition to the captivating musical performances, the musicians of the Guizhou Provincial Folk Orchestra interacted with the local audience, hosting instrument recognition activities and distributing gifts. They turned the concert into a musical classroom that fully showcased traditional folk instruments.

During the event, the organizers presented the audience with steaming bowls of tangyuan, or glutinous rice balls, expressing wishes of happiness.

To conclude the concert, the musicians of the Guizhou Provincial Folk Orchestra and the local audience participated in a live video broadcast, extending Chinese New Year's and Lantern Festival greetings to overseas Chinese.
