A special event themed on reading was recently held at the Yunyan District Library in Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. The event was held to welcome the upcoming Chinese New Year, and attracted over a hundred book lovers.
For participants to experience traditional Chinese New Year customs, the event featured a variety of activities, including a magic show, a New Year wishing tree, creating Spring Festival couplets, a fortune-telling photo booth, a display of the twelve zodiac animals, an abundant harvest display, Chinese poetry discussions, and tea ceremonies.

During the event, participating readers received a park ticket and then completed tasks at various activity stations to receive a New Year blessing stamp. After collecting all the blessings, they were eligible to draw a red envelope, containing vouchers for New Year gifts.
Li Liyinna, operational director of the Yunyan District Library, expressed that this year's event aimed to promote reading among the public in innovative ways. It also allowed readers to experience the charm of traditional culture in a festive environment.
In addition, the Yunyan District Library will present a diverse array of activities during the Chinese New Year period, including a photo exhibition, a thematic display of festive folk customs, and a training course on Chinese painting.
