Upgraded Taiping Road opens to public

The resurgence ceremony of Guancheng River and the opening ceremony of Taiping Road were held in Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Jan 26.

In the presence of both locals and tourists, the long-lost Guancheng River officially re-emerged, revealing a brand-new look after more than nine months of urban renewal and construction on Taiping Road, which now blends modern fashion with traditional culture.

The event included a parade, interactive activities, the lighting ceremony of Taiping Road, and a traditional hanfu dance performance.

That same day, many locals and tourists ascended Beimen Bridge and Longjing Bridge along the Guancheng River to witness the ceremonies. They also placed lanterns in the river and sang the song Me and My Motherland.

In addition to the original 170 businesses, Taiping Road has attracted 26 new brands, 15 of which have never before been seen on the street. The business composition of the area includes 65.38 percent catering, 26.93 percent retail, and 7.69 percent supporting businesses.
