Since the beginning of this year, Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been making significant progress in integrating medical care and elderly care, allowing aged people to enjoy convenient, comfortable, and high-quality medical resources.
As of now, Yunyan has established 17 elderly care service centers and 66 community elderly care stations. Construction work on another elderly care service center and three community elderly care service stations is still ongoing.
In early March of this year, the Qianling Town Community Elderly Care Service Center set up operations in an area of more than 3000 square meters. It currently has 90 medical and elderly care beds and it is open to people aged 70 and above who have medical and elderly care needs. So far, 22 elderly people have moved in, with the majority suffering from cardiovascular and chronic pulmonary diseases.
The service center was built on the foundation of a disused hotel with a good internal environment and facilities. The residential section of the center has a nursing station, with certified doctors and nurses taking shifts around the clock to monitor and care for the physical condition of the elderly, while also providing them with psychological counseling.
