Before the start of the renovations, Yunyan consulted with local residents. The plan stated that the renovations would focus mainly on the old residential area, with additional renovations to be made to surrounding alleys.
The renovations involved paving traffic-accessible roadways with asphalt, re-paving the walkways with bricks, widening and refurbishing drainage canals, adding fire hydrants and parking spaces, and renovating the rain and sewage pipe network.
Additionally, to improve the area's image and environment, the district added a wall painting of the Wenchang Pavilion in the alley at the entrance of the Guiyang Welfare Institute and improved the greenery.
Moving forward, Yunyan plans to renovate another 69 alleys, while other renovation projects are also in the works.
