In recent years, Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been working to integrate local culture and tourism.
In 2022, Yunyan revealed its "Wenchang Yunyan" strategy of using culture to help boost the development of Yunyan. Since the start of 2022, the district has held the Yunyan image and creative products competitions to shape its tourism brand.
Yunyan has also focused on building public cultural micro-space, block museums, and time-brand street culture groups around areas including Taiping Road, Shengfu Road and Wenchangge Pavilion.
Efforts have also been made to introduce high-quality enterprises and accelerate the construction of key projects including the Xinhua Creative Cultural District, Colorful Guizhou Grand Stage, and Culture and Art Pavilion.
In 2022, Yunyan received over 21.78 million visitors and saw a total tourism income of 30.23 billion yuan ($4.40 billion), ranking ninth among the top 100 districts in the country in terms of comprehensive tourism strength.
In the face of new trends and changes in the tourism industry development, Yunyan aims to build more travel projects and publicize creative products. To build a diverse tourism market, it will launch boutique tourist routes including old town exploration and red culture exploration.
Additionally, the district will continue to boost the tourism environment and improve current infrastructure and software services to enhance the travel experience.
