Yunyan sees remarkable progress in socioeconomic development

Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, made remarkable achievements in social and economic development over the past year.

Comprehensive economic strength 

The gross domestic product of Yunyan reached 95.68 billion yuan ($13.88 billion) in 2022, ranking 76th among China's top 100 high-quality development districts. 

The district accelerated the construction of a modern industrial system dominated by advanced manufacturing and modern service industries. 

Its industrial added value increased 3.3 percent, the electronic information manufacturing industry contributed 1.68 billion yuan in output value, the added value of the tertiary industry increased 0.9 percent, and the revenue of the software and information service industry increased 4.2 percent. 

Local Yunyan Collaborative Innovation Industrial Cluster became home to 11 electronic information enterprises, of which five achieved an output value of at least 1.17 billion yuan, showing the rapid development of the electronic information manufacturing industry. 

Yunyan became home to 16,000 new market entities and 105 national science and technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises last year. The headquarters base of Guizhou e-commerce cluster was built, with the number of recognized headquarters-type enterprises totaling 15 and ranking first in Guiyang.

The district implemented 108 big data application demonstration projects and introduced 18 digital economy projects. 

The added value of the cultural industry above designated size reached 1.02 billion yuan, accounting for 65 percent of the city's cultural industrial added value. The district was also recognized as one of China's top 100 districts with comprehensive tourism strength. 

Business environment

Yunyan formulated and implemented 10 policies to promote the development of scientific and technological innovation. It built one municipal tech business incubator, and had 262 enterprises and teams incubated. 

The district became home to an additional 53 high-tech enterprises last year, increasing 194 percent year-on-year.

The district carried out investment promotions and introduced five projects by China's top 500 enterprises, 41 competitive enterprises, and seven foreign-funded enterprises, with 7.22 billion yuan in industrial funds in place. 

A total of 5.32 billion yuan in taxes and fees were reduced to boost the development of enterprises. The proportion of business affairs handled online reached 82.37 percent. 

People's well-being

Yunyan promoted urbanization and was committed to people's well-being over the past year.

The district started construction on 14 15-minute living circle projects, renovated 17 farmers' markets, 2,176 residences in old communities and 21,211 shanties, and 110 backstreets and alleys, and added 4,800 new public parking spaces.

It reconstructed the underground pipe network extending for 239.86 kilometers, achieved zero landfill of domestic waste, and eliminated odorous polluted water bodies. 

Traffic jams at 12 road sections in the district were alleviated. 

The district built 12 public kindergartens and increased primary and middle school enrollment capacity by 1,620 students.

The main buildings of Yunyan District People's Hospital Branch and Yunyan District Maternal and Child Hospital were completed, and the construction of three community health service centers was finished. 

Yunyan built 59 senior care service centers and improved the service system of community canteens for senior residents over the past year.

In addition, 40,068 people in the district found employment last year, and the per capita disposable income of residents reached 47,159 yuan, ranking first among districts and counties in the province.
