Over the past year, Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has coordinated with local communities to construct elderly care stations that provide services such as leisure, entertainment, health care and dining and meet the diverse needs of senior citizens.

The Wanjiang Community Elderly Care Service Station, for example, has helped to enrich people's lives.

"In the past, if everyone wanted to get together, they had to go to the open space outside. When it rained, they had nowhere to go. Now, everyone can chat and play chess together in the service station," said Tan Binfu, an 80-year-old man who plays chess with his friends at the Wanjiang community in Yunyan.

In July last year, Wanjiang started construction on the station, which used to be the bathroom on the first floor of building 25. Today, the station receives nearly 200 senior citizens per day and has completed the filing work for 65 elderly people.

The station, covering an area of 420 square meters, includes areas for entertainment, reading and eating, and offers eight categories of services including life care, elderly products, medical care and housekeeping.

There are more than 5,000 people in Wanjiang community, of which 22 percent are over 60 years old.

Liao Xinkun, executive manager of Guizhou Yunzekangyuan Pension Service Co, the station's operator, said that the station not only provides on-site services, but also door-to-door care. It aims to build a high-quality living environment that integrates life care, entertainment and health management.
