China rolled out a pilot program to revive the country's outbound group travel services, with travel agencies and online tourism service providers in China permitted to provide group tours for 20 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, starting from Feb 6.
Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will launch its first outbound group tour on March 14, organized by Guizhou Guiren Zhilyu Travel Agency Co.
The chartered flight group tour will go from Guiyang to Phuket, Thailand, with a total of 185 seats. As of Feb 6, more than 80 people have signed up for the group tour.
Jiang Jun, general manager of the company, said that since the resumption of tours, many tourists have inquired about services related to outbound travel, and the company has launched a number of tourism products with favorable prices, such as customized tours and independent tours for tourists to choose from.
So far, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, and Indonesia are the most popular destinations for outbound group tours among Guiyang locals, with island vacation destinations such as the Maldives, Phuket, and Fiji also proving popular.
