Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is accelerating the construction of an electronics information industrial cluster worth 10 billion yuan ($1.44 billion), focusing on the electronic information manufacturing sector.
The district has rolled out a plan for the construction of centralized industrial development zones to advance new-type industrialization.
Yunyan initiated the reconstruction of Guiyang cigarette factory's old plants in 2021, transforming them into a centralized industrial development zone for collaborative innovation to attract electronics information enterprises. The zone's first electronics information enterprise went into operation on Dec 15, 2021, marking the start of Yunyan's electronics information development.
This year, the district authority has adjusted the zone's plans for land and industry, as it seeks to accelerate the construction of standard factories, optimize the infrastructures and support facilities, and revitalize low-efficient industrial land and idle buildings.
It also has launched one-stop services in the zone, while the district has continued with efforts to establish a special fund, construct projects, attract business, boost the development of pillar and characteristic industries, strengthen the development of industrial chain and foster the industry cluster.
Yunyan boasts significant advantages in promoting the electronic information manufacturing sector. Located in the center of Guiyang, it enjoys convenient transportation. Though it has the smallest land area in the city, it is the most densely-populated area in Guiyang, with a permanent population of 1.07 million.
With the goal of building a 10-billion-yuan electronic information industry base, Yunyan aims to nurture a whole industrial chain of smart electronics products next year, with the design, R&D and manufacturing enterprises of semiconductors, chips and optoelectronic materials in the upstream, electronics module and terminal product manufacturing companies in the midstream, and mobile intelligent terminal, high-performance computer, communication device, audio-visual equipment, intelligent vehicle terminal and intelligent home product companies in the downstream.
By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Yunyan's industrial added value of electronic information is expected to reach 10 billion yuan.
