Preschool education in Guiyang's Yunyan district is becoming more universal and inclusive, compulsory education is developing in a balanced way, and the roster of teaching staff members is being optimized.
"In order to promote the inclusive development of pre-school education, Yunyan district has built an inclusive kindergarten system," said Wei Gongli, director of the enrollment and examination center of Yunyan district education bureau.
He added that the rate of students studying at public schools in the district has increased from 50.78 percent to 58.1 percent, and the enrollment rate of compulsory-education-aged children has increased from 80 percent to 91.5 percent.
Additionally, starting this year, the district has begun standardizing how private schools are run at the compulsory education level. 37 private schools that temporarily failed to meet requirements were suspended, and their students and teachers were transferred to public schools.
When transferring to public schools, students no longer have to pay the 1,000-yuan ($140) annual tuition free, and their moral, intellectual, physical, artistic and labor services have been improved.
More than 14,700 students from private schools in Yunyan district have studied in public schools, with 98 percent of them expressing satisfaction.
Over half of the 108,900 compulsory education students in the district are non-local registered residents, and the district has managed to provide compulsory public education for the children of all migrant workers.
