Yunyan district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is accelerating the construction of a kitchen waste disposal plant with a daily capacity of 50 metric tons.
The build-out is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, when kitchen waste – such as vegetable stalks and leaves from farmers' markets and fresh supermarkets in Yunyan – will be transported there for processing.
Kitchen waste has a relatively high moisture content so before garbage classification, mixed waste with a large amount of kitchen waste is conventionally incinerated with low-power generation efficiency.
Separating kitchen waste is regarded as being a much more efficient method, which can increase the calorific value of waste incineration.
The completion of the project is expected to help pave the way for a green circular economy for sustainable development.
