Over the past 10 years, Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has accelerated opening-up, promoted high-quality development, and sped up urban construction, strengthening economic and social development.

From 2012 to 2021, the district's GDP jumped from 44.13 billion yuan ($6.13 billion) to 94.88 billion yuan, while the per capita disposable income of urban residents increased from 22,527 yuan to 45,082 yuan.
The district has given priority to new-type industrialization. There are currently 444 industrial entities in the district, with a total industrial output value of 28.85 billion yuan.
The added value of high-tech manufacturing accounts for 14.8 percent of the district's industrial added value above a designated size.

The cultural and tourism industry has also recovered. Yangming Temple and Wenchang Pavilion have successfully applied to become A-level scenic spots, and there are currently 6,256 tourism market players in the district, ranking at the forefront of the province.
In 2021, three new big data companies began operating in Yunyan. The district's index of deep integration of big data and real economy ranked first in the province. It has achieved full 5G coverage in urban areas.

Since 2021, Yunyan has built 29 15-minute living circles around education, culture, health and sports, food, housing and transportation for the elderly and young.
This year, focusing on the nighttime economy, Yunyan has built a number of high-quality nighttime commercial areas, such as Taiping Road, Tiantai Street and Yitian Holiday Plaza.
