From 2012 to 2021, Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw rapid economic and social development, dramatic changes in its urban and rural landscapes, and continuous improvement in people's livelihoods.
The district's GDP jumped from 44.12 billion yuan ($6.2 billion) in 2012 to 94.88 billion yuan in 2021, with its growth rate remaining at the forefront in the city for 10 consecutive years.
In 2021, Yunyan established a dominant position in the electronic information manufacturing industry, and introduced seven key related projects.
Last year, the number of industrial entities in Yunyan was 444, which had a total industrial output value of 28.85 billion yuan, and the district's added value of high-tech manufacturing accounted for 14.8 percent of its industrial added value above a designated size.

Over the past 10 years, the district's urban built-up area has been expanded to 54.61 square kilometers, and the resident population increased to 1.08 million.
Guiyang Metro lines 1 and 2 have been completed and put into operation, and backbone roads such as Renmin Avenue and Shubo Avenue have been opened to traffic.

The district's per capita disposable income of urban residents increased from 22,527 yuan in 2012 to 45,082 yuan in 2021.
In 2012, Yunyan took the lead in achieving universal poverty alleviation in the province. Since 2016, Yunyan has carried out paired assistance, helping left all 126,000 people in other poverty-stricken places out of poverty.
Currently, Yunyan is promoting its high-quality development, building a high-quality industrial integration development demonstration area, high-quality urban renewal functional core area, and a high-efficiency social governance collaborative innovation area.
