Yunyan district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has embarked on a path of achieving a win-win situation between ecological and environmental protection and economic development.
The district has issued a plan to guarantee excellent ambient air quality based on five initiatives: dust pollution control, catering oil fume controls, low-altitude non-point source burning, volatile organic compound prevention and controls and urban greening construction.
Yunyan has regularly conducted environmental supervision on six motor vehicle environmental protection inspection agencies in the jurisdiction, and further promoted the completion of oil and gas recovery and management work at all its 29 gas stations.
In 2021, the excellent rate of ambient air quality in Yunyan reached 98.9 percent.
The construction of water reclaiming plants and the treatment of black and malodorous water bodies have been promoted as well. As a result, the water quality compliance rate of centralized drinking water sources in Yunyan is stable at 100 percent.
Also, Yunyan has completed the investigation of soil pollution at 42 construction sites, strengthened the supervision of restoration and treatment projects, carried out surveys on corresponding land and soil conditions and promote soil pollution prevention and control in a step-by-step and targeted manner.
Nowadays, Yunyan district has fully integrated the ecological civilization into all areas and in the entire process of economic development, guiding residents in ecological and environmental protection.
