In the Wenchang Pavilion Scenic Spot, parents and students got to witness a demonstration of the imperial civil service examination of bygone times, and were given zongzi, or glutinous rice dumplings, for prayer.
"It's very ceremonial," said a local. "I saw it on TV before, but I didn't expect to see it up close," he added.
Wenbi Street in Yunyan was a popular hit during the break. In addition to zongzi making, other activities in the street also attracted a large number of tourists, including demonstrations of batik making skills, Miao cross-stitch embroidery, Guiyang tofu fruit making and the wearing of hanfu or traditional Chinese dresses.
