In recent years, Yunyan district of Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has focused on its educational reforms and has achieved sterling results in the sector.
Among its achievements, the district has promoted its preschool education development. Currently, the district is home to 12 provincial demonstration kindergartens.

The gross admission rate and the government-run rate of kindergartens in the district during the period reached 90.8 percent and 58.1 percent, respectively.
In 2021, the district renovated, expanded or built 14 kindergartens, and primary and secondary schools, adding 5,670 study positions.
Furthermore, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Yunyan district education bureau has carried out strict prevention and control measures.
This is said to have ensured that all schools in the district were free of infection and no food safety or teaching facility safety incidents occurred.

Moving forwards, the district plans to improve its funding mechanism, increase its capital expenditure on education through a variety of channels and expand its supply of preschool education resources.
The target is that by 2025, the gross admission rate and the government-run rate of kindergartens in the district will hit over 94 percent and over 64 percent, respectively.
Moreover, efforts will be made to realize the balanced layout of schools in the compulsory education stage to meet the needs of the people's 15-minute life circle in the district.
In addition, an education informatization improvement project will be promoted through expert training – building a group of information-based demonstration schools – as well as the construction of a district smart education big data comprehensive service platform.
