Yunyan district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has attached importance to the 15-minute community living circle program, which aims to give everybody access to the basic necessities within a 15-minute walk from home.

One example of the program is the new 24-hour Yunyan smart library, which opened in November, 2021.

The library has realized intelligent management by means of automation control technology and computer technology.

It is open to the public 24 hours a day. Locals can enter with their ID cards. They can also apply for reader cards at the self-service borrowing and returning terminal, where they can borrow or bring back books.

To protect the health of the public and provide a better reading experience, self-service book sterilizers and air conditioners have also been installed in the library.

Since 2021, based on its own needs, Yunyan has accelerated the construction of 15-minute community living circles that focus on education, culture, health, sports, housing and transportation.

The district is being divided into 29 living circles, of which 14 will be established in 2022 and 12 will be constructed in 2023.

During the construction process, to better identify the needs of the public, sub-district offices in Yunyan also collected the opinions and suggestions of residents.
