Yunyan celebrates Lantern Festival in style with big bash

Yunyan district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – held a big bash at Wenchangge Square on Feb 15 to celebrate the traditional Lantern Festival, enabling locals to embrace the festivities and have a ball.

The event kicked off with a host of fun acts, along with a song and dance performance of Colorful Guizhou.

The event also set up a lantern riddle guessing session, attracting many residents to participate.

"It's hoped the activity enhanced everyone's understanding of the Lantern Festival, allowed more people to feel the unique charms of traditional culture and spread the joy of the festival through their enthusiastic participation," said a member of staff at the Yunyan district culture and tourism bureau.
