Yunyan district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – held its 2022 voluntary tree planting activity in the district's Pianpo village in Qianling town on Feb 7.
With the theme of "carrying out afforestation and greening to promote rural revitalization," the activity aimed to actively guide members of the public to consciously participate in voluntary tree-planting programs.

The activity will last until March 20. During that period, 2,000 cherry trees will be planted at district-level voluntary tree-planting sites, while 900 trees will be planted at sub-district and town voluntary tree-planting sites.
"It is important to protect the green results," said Hu Qiqi, deputy director of the Yunyan district natural resources bureau.
"At a later stage, we will have staff members to manage and protect these trees and we will plant flowers on demand, to increase the diversity of the ground cover".
In recent years, Yunyan has followed a path to ecological priorities and green development. Through effective measures such as voluntary tree planting, artificial afforestation and forest tending, the forest coverage rate in the district has increased from 35.58 percent in 2016 to the current 37.02 percent.
