Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently rolled out a series of preferential policies to attract investment.
The policies target newly-introduced, promising and high-growth enterprises that contribute at least 500,000 yuan ($78,347) per year to the region's tax revenues – particularly investment companies from other provinces. Real estate companies are excluded.
Fortune Global 500 Companies, Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, and Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises that set up their State-level headquarters in Yunyan will get subsidies of 10 million yuan, 9 million yuan and 8 million yuan respectively after recognition.
The above-mentioned enterprises that set up holding companies or wholly-owned subsidiaries in Yunyan will get subsidies of 2 million yuan, 1.5 million yuan, and 1 million yuan respectively if they become the first of their types to set up in Yunyan.
Private companies first included in the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises list will be awarded with 5 million yuan. Private companies first included in Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises list will be awarded 3 million yuan. Those newly recognized as national or provincial-level private sci-tech enterprises incubators will be awarded with 4 million or 2 million yuan.
Awards for making a contribution to the local economy will also be handed out.
From the first year a company registers in Yunyan to the fifth year, if its annual contribution to the district's tax revenues reaches 500,000 yuan to 1 million yuan in any given year, it will receive a subsidy of 20 percent of its contribution amount for that the year.
Companies contributing 1 million to 200 million yuan will receive a subsidy of 40 percent. Those whose contribution hits 2 million yuan will receive a subsidy of 50 percent.
The district also operates a green card system for highly-skilled workers. Top managers and talented personnel can apply for the green card and enjoy a cost-of-living allowance, house-purchasing subsidy, and a series of preferential policies in spouse employment, children's education, healthcare, and settlement.
Companies in Yunyan listed on the main board will be awarded with a maximum of 10 million yuan.
Those listed on the growth enterprise market and science and technology innovation board will be awarded with a maximum of 12 million yuan. And those listed on the new over-the-counter market will be awarded with 2 million yuan.
