First PR smart parking lot in Yunyan put into use

The first park and ride (PR) smart parking lot located on Yan'an West Road in Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently put into use.

A PR parking lot is generally built next to urban rail transit. The owner can park their car in the parking lot and transfer to rail when commuting to work and then return to the parking lot to drive home. This is an effective way to alleviate urban traffic congestion.

The parking lot has six floors above ground and three floors underground, with a total of 674 parking spaces. It currently receives more than 200 vehicles every day. During the National Day holiday this year, more than 500 vehicles were received every day.

Entrances and exits are on Zaoshan Road, Huangjin Road and Yan'an West Road. After entering the parking lot, drivers must park their cars in the designated location according to instructions from the guide.

The system will automatically send the car to the smart parking system inside. When the driver needs to pick up their car, they can choose to manually enter their license plate number, scan a code, or scan their face or fingerprints to pick up the car.

The PR smart parking lot is currently in the trial operation stage and is open to citizens free of charge. After it officially begins operating, fees will be as follows: 7 am- 10 pm: 5 yuan ($0.78) per hour; 10 pm-7 am the next day: 15 yuan total.

Yunyan has recently been building high-quality and high-efficiency parking lots, improving the city's facilities, and improving the city's image. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 2,616 parking spaces have been built in the district.
