Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held a green exchange activity on Aug 26, as the national energy conservation publicity week ran from Aug 23 to 29.
The activity was meant to teach people about energy conservation, carbon reduction, and sustainable development and advocate a new low-carbon lifestyle.

At the site of the event, various departments and units directly under the district's control took recyclables such as books, ink cartridges, plastic, and electronics and exchanged them for poverty alleviation agricultural products.
A total of about 900 kilograms of books and newspaper, 224 ink cartridges, 5 kg of plastic, and 1 kg of scrap metal were collected, as well as one electric heater, one electric fan, two chairs, three mobile phones, and more.
The recovered materials will be collected, transported and disposed of by Guiyang Yunyan Guokong Business Development Co in accordance with regulations.
The event is meant to increase awareness of low-carbon environmental protection and help with poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, creating a good atmosphere for low-carbon environmental protection, more reasonable consumption, and healthy lifestyles.
