Yunyan district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw a strong performance from its consumer market during the Spring Festival holiday from Feb 10 to 17, according to the district's commerce bureau.
During the eight-day period, 14 shopping malls in the district reported total sales of 129.3 million yuan ($19.98 million), receiving 1.3 million customers.
Local authorities said that shopping malls in the district offered various discounts and promotions to attract consumers during the holiday.
Also, online sales for commodities such as home appliances, automobiles and vegetables were encouraged among supermarkets, auto companies and e-commerce platforms, offering both convenience and discounts for shoppers.
Data shows that Suning reported sales revenue of 87 million yuan during the holiday period, a year-on-year increase of 43.57 percent, while Gome reported sales of 17 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 169.87 percent. Hema Fresh provided nearly 10 metric tons of vegetables to residents every day.
