Yunyan district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received around 433,500 tourists during the Spring Festival holiday, marking a year-on-year increase of 84.45 percent, according to local media reports on Feb 18.
The seven-day holiday ran from Feb 11 to 17 and generated tourism income of about 412 million yuan ($63.90 million), a year-on-year increase of 75.97 percent.
During the holiday, Yunyan district's culture, sports, radio, television and tourism bureau urged all scenic spots and cultural and entertainment venues to implement comprehensive COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures, such as limiting the number of visitors and requiring guests to make a reservation.
The bureau also organized safety inspections of hotels, popular scenic spots and radio and television base stations to ensure a stable tourism market and a safe holiday.
Peking opera performances were also broadcast online to satisfy the cultural and leisure needs of Yunyan residents.
As of 6 pm on Feb 17, no major travel safety accidents had occurred in Yunyan, and officials had received no travel complaints from tourists.
