Yunyan home to Guizhou's first intellectual property cultural service center

An intellectual property cultural service center was recently established in Yunyan district of Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, becoming the first such center in the province.

It was established to further guide and help enterprises in the district to carry out intellectual property management work, and improve the "effective use" of intellectual property rights, according to local authorities.

Relying on the service center, an "intellectual property functional Party group" was set up. Party members from the district's market supervision bureau provided companies with details on intellectual property information and policies.

Experts with intellectual property qualifications and intellectual property administrative law enforcement officials were invited to provide enterprises with several services, including on-site policy consultation, application guidance, policy promotion and mediation.

The intellectual property application rate in the district was significantly increased thanks to these measures. At present, 3,414 patent applications of various types have been submitted, among which 2,465 have been authorized, and the number of valid trademark registrations is 25,233.

The district has also issued plans to support intellectual property applications, encouraging companies to innovate and start businesses to enhance their core competitiveness.

The first batch of grants, totaling 102,000 yuan ($15,820), has been issued to the district's high-quality firms, including listed companies and big data companies.

Yunyan has also intensified efforts to crack down on violations of intellectual property rights to create a legal environment that respects and protects intellectual property rights. Up till now, 25 trademark infringement cases have been dealt with, with fines totaling 448,000 yuan.
