Yunyan district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is encouraging residents to spend the upcoming Spring Festival in the district to ensure public safety.
According to local authorities, the announcement is being issued as part of the district's COVID-19 prevention and control measures in response to the current pandemic situation.
The district calls upon residents to spend the holiday locally, reunite with family members through online platforms and send Chinese New Year greetings by WeChat, phone calls, or other means.
Authorities are also advocating that residents limit unnecessary gatherings to ensure the safety of the entire community.
Safe shopping is being encouraged, with residents advised to choose local shopping malls and avoid purchasing imported goods if possible. Shoppers are also encouraged to select the self-service check-out to limit the amount of time people spend waiting in lines.
All people are required to cooperate with pandemic prevention and control measures. If relatives and friends come from overseas or high-and medium-risk domestic areas, they need to report their arrival and cooperate with health inspection work.
Yunyan residents are being told to develop good habits at home, such as ensuring adequate ventilation, frequently washing their hands and using public chopsticks and spoons.
The district urges people not to believe or spread rumors and to pay attention to official news.
