A groundbreaking ceremony for the Wuyue Plaza project was held on Dec 26 in Yunyan district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The project has received a total investment of 7 billion yuan ($1.05 billion) from Seazen Holdings Co, a Shanghai-headquartered comprehensive real estate enterprise that straddles the residential and commercial real estate sectors.

The project has a total planned area of 760,000 square meters. Once completed, the plaza will include a shopping center, office buildings, boutique commercial streets and residential departments.

Construction of the project is in line with Yunyan district's goal to transform the old urban areas along Renmin Avenue into a central business district gathering finance, commerce, shopping and office buildings, according to Wang Qian, the head of Yunyan district's government.

In recent years, Yunyan has been committed to becoming a district with high-level opening-up and top-quality development. It has focused on transforming old shanty towns, accelerated the improvement of urban areas and core competitiveness, and simultaneously promoted urban and industrial modernization.
