Yunyan gains national honor for consumer rights protection

The customers association of Yunyan district in Guiyang city – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – was recently granted the appellation of “national advanced collective on protection of customers rights for 2018 to 2019,”Guiyang Daily reported.

The recognition was a result of work done by the association in protecting consumer rights.

It arranged a series of activities to promote consumer laws and knowledge on International Consumer Rights Day and other important days, by cooperating with the Guizhou Evening Newspaper, the Guizhou Radio Station and other media outlets. 

The association also signed letters of commitment with over 100 businesses in Yunyan district, urging them to trade in qualified products and services in an honest way. 

It also worked with the Yunyan administration of market regulation to ensure that a management platform, eight special teams and 14 working teams were set up in the field of endeavor. Officials also carried out a series of plans and established 23 stations for the protection of consumer rights.  

Statistics showed that from 2018 to 2019, the association issued over 50,000 copies of brochures and materials providing information on the laws governing the protection on customer rights.

During the same time, it accepted more than 12,000 cases of consumer complaints, gave consultations to 4,137 people and released 52 warning, helping customers retrieve financial losses of more than 3 million yuan ($440,000).
