Yunyan district in Guiyang city has allocated 2 million yuan to support the renovation and upgrading of 23 farmer's markets administered by the district.
Officials stated that the funds would be used to maintain facilities, purchase equipment and improve markets' surrounding environments.
The district also aims to improve markets' internal environments by optimizing stall layout and zoning settings, fire-fighting facilities, water supply and drainage systems, lighting facilities, power distribution systems, garbage treatment facilities and anti-skid flooring.
Around 10 markets, including the Xiangshi Farmer's Market, Yingjia Farmer's Market and Sanqiao Farmer's Market, have finished renovations and received the grade of 4A-level Farmer's Market.
Hongbianmen Farmer's Market has added smart equipment to publicize the traceability, price and testing results of agricultural products and ensure the authenticity, safety and reliability of products sold in the market.
Renovations at the remaining farmer's markets will be completed by the end of this month, officials added.
The commerce bureau of Yunyan district is also making efforts to improve its management levels and capacity by establishing a product quality sampling inspection system, conducting random inspections and establishing a market clearance system for unqualified products.
