In the current year, Yunyan district will continue to implement livelihood projects in 10 areas -- including employment, security, the residential environment and urban transformation -- to improve people's living conditions, local officials said.
To enhance employment, Yunyan district -- in the city of Guiyang in Southwest China’s Guizhou province -- will increase 50,000 new jobs for residents and help with the development of 11 entrepreneurial firms to create job opportunities.
In terms of improving the residential environment, Yunyan will complete the comprehensive renovation of 50 back streets and alleys, upgrade 24 public toilets and transfer two roadside stalls back to their stores.
Meanwhile, Yunyan will comprehensively promote the standardization of domestic waste classifications.
Officials said the coverage rate of urban and rural domestic waste classification facilities will reach 90 percent in 2020, in accordance with the proposed popularization of the domestic waste classification system.
In terms of urban greening, Yunyan will carry out a project to look after 200 mu (13.33 hectares) of forest and add 100,000 square meters of urban green area.
In addition to implementing the renovation project involving shantytowns or urban villages, Yunyan district will build new roads for people’s convenience, officials said.
For example, Jiaohuayun pedestrian walkway will be built as the extension of Changling South Road.
