Commonly known as China's Data Valley, Southwest China's Guiyang efforts to promote its key action plan for the construction of "100 stores, 1,000 shops" to bolster its medium and high-end consumption took a major step with the opening of Incity, a commercial complex, on Dec 8.

Covering an area of 150,000 square meters, the seven-floor complex is the first Incity in Southwest China. It was developed by SCPG, a member of the Vanke Group focusing on the investment, development, and management of shopping centers.

Guiyang Incity is located at the intersection of Beijingxi and Jinyangnan roads. It has attracted more than 200 brands to settle in it. The opening day saw 170,000 visitors with sales revenue exceeding 7 million yuan ($994,855).

The complex positions itself as a one-stop commercial facility for residents in Guiyang, as it has integrated supermarkets, cinemas, children entertainment projects, and furniture stores, five of which are among the Fortune Global 500.

Yunyan district has made great efforts to develop medium and high-end consumption and trade for over a year, and has made practical achievements in commerce and trade revitalization, said Wang Qian, Yunyan district mayor, during a speech to celebrate Incity's opening.

Wang also disclosed that the district plans to enhance supporting services for enterprises and to develop the complex into a fashionable high-end one-stop facility for consumption and entertainment, as well as into a well-known commercial calling card of the region.

The complex aims to foster a shopping space that fully displays local culture and the city's uniqueness, providing different and interesting experiences for residents, according to a spokesperson of Guiyang's Incity.
