Yunyan district in Southwest China's Guiyang carried out a variety of activities to raise public awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention and control recently for the 32nd World AIDS Day, which fell on Dec 1.

In addition to the blackboard newspapers and promotion stations created by volunteers in Jinlong community, bulletin boards, LED advertising screens, and WeChat public accounts have also been used to improve people's awareness of self-protection from HIV/AIDS in the Shixi community.

Several Shixi community workers also visited five HIV infected patients and provided them with daily goods, such as rice and edible oil.

In cooperation with the Guizhou Institute of Technology, workers from the Caiguan community health service station and the college's clinic set up a promotion station on campus, carrying out scientific popularization, as well as distributing more than 200 AIDS prevention promotional materials and products to college teachers and students.

The latest statistics show that a total of 230 million people were tested nationwide between January and October, with 131,000 new cases of HIV, of which 127,000 new anti-virus treatments were added, according to the National Health Commission.
