Guizhou Institute of Technology

The Guizhou Institute of Technology was founded in July 2011 to meet the need for applied talents in science and engineering in Guizhou province's strategy of urbanization and building Guizhou into a powerful industrial province.

Approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2013, the Guizhou Institute of Technology was established as a polytechnic institute at the location of the former Guizhou Institute of Technology and Guizhou University of Technology. 

The institute is a full-time public college with multiple disciplines of engineering, science, management, and economics. In April 2016, it started to enroll international students. In January 2017, it was approved as one of the first national innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration colleges. In August 2017, it set up the China-ASEAN University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance as the rotating chairman unit and the permanent secretariat unit.

Located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, the Guizhou Institute of Technology has two campuses. Its main one is in Caijiaguan, on the bank of Aha Lake in southwest Guiyang, covering 866.7 mu (57.78 hectares). It features an elegant study and living environment and improved teaching and research facilities. The new campus is in the Huaxi university town, Gui'an New District, and covers around 1,757 mu. Its first phase project is now under construction. 

So far, the institute has 863 faculty members, including one candidate of the national millions of talents program, one enjoying the special government allowances of the State Council, one national young and middle-aged expert with an outstanding contribution, two candidates of the New Century Excellent Talents in University program of the Ministry of Education, one Guizhou provincial core expert, four provincial-level experts, one enjoying the Guizhou provincial government special allowance, one Guizhou philosophy and social science "Qianling Scholar", one Guizhou outstanding provincial young science and technology talent, three Guizhou provincial youth science and technology award winners, and five Guizhou provincial-level innovative talents. 

The institute has one Guizhou provincial-level top teacher, four Guizhou provincial excellent teachers, 79 professors, and 376 associate professors. Of the entire faculty at all ranks 222 have a PhD and 455 having a master's degree.
