Most parks in downtown areas are nothing but squares, but Qianling Mountain Park in Guiyang city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, is an exception. Appearing to be hidden in the city, Qianling Mountain Park is famous for its old trees that cover the entire mountain.
Guiyang people have a soft spot in their hearts for the Qianling Mountain Park. Every day from early morning, they come to the park for fitness and just to relax. Some carry empty bottles to get sweet mountain spring water, and some play Tai Chi at the foot of the mountain. Walking up the winding mountain road, several macaque monkeys are on the side of the road or on the trees along the way to ask for food from travelers. Many people use fruit to attract them.
Built in 1957, the park has a reputation for beautiful scenery of green hills, clear water, lush forest, ancient temples, spring water, and smart monkeys. It is also the first choice as a place to have a panoramic view of Guiyang city.
