Yunyan district regional GDP up by 9.8 percent in H1, ranking top in Guiyang city

Yunyan district, Guiyang city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, enjoyed steady GPD growth in the first half of 2019, with its regional economic aggregate remaining in first place in Guizhou province and its fiscal revenue and foreign trade import and export volume ranking tops in the city of Guiyang.

Despite the increasing economic downward pressure, Yunyan district promoted high-quality development in the first six months.

Its gross regional domestic product reached 37.59 billion yuan ($5.34 billion), a year-on-year increase of 9.8 percent. The economic aggregate of the district ranked first in the province, accounting for 21.05 percent of Guiyang's.

The district's economic development was largely driven by its second and third industries, which contributed 1.35 percentage points and 8.4 percentage points respectively of the GDP growth in the period.

The second and the tertiary industries in Yunyan district rose by 7.1 percent and 10.4 percent respectively in the first half of this year, and their value added amounted to 7.05 billion yuan and 30.53 billion yuan.

The rapid growth of other than-profit service industries, the financial industry, wholesale and retail trade, transportation, warehousing and the postal and construction industries fostered economic growth in Yunyan district, and their proportional contributions to its economic growth were 58.08 percent, 11.54 percent, 12.89 percent, 7.58 percent, and 6.48 percent.

In addition, Yunyan district's wholesale sales were 24.43 billion yuan, up 11.6 percent year-on-year; retail sales were 15.65 billion yuan, up 12.7 percent year-on-year; turnover in the lodging industry was 997 million yuan, a year-on-year growth of 7.6 percent, and turnover in the catering industry was 1.11 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.1 percent.

From January to June, Yunyan's total financial revenue reached 17.10 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 68.3 percent, and its tax revenue totaled 16.74 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.3 percent.
