The bustling Taiping Road in Yunyan district, Guiyang, was transformed on Sept 30 by vibrant themed events, such as "Daytime Coffee, Nighttime Drinks" and "Tipsy Guiyang".
According to She Nian, director of the Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce, these events aim to integrate lifestyle changes into nighttime and tourism consumption, shifting the focus from merely selling alcohol to promoting a comprehensive lifestyle experience.
Since May, the district has intensified its collaboration with renowned baijiu brands, regularly hosting events on Taiping Road. To date, 14 such events have been organized that drew an average daily foot traffic of 50,000 to 60,000 people, a 41 percent increase in foot traffic and consumption compared to regular days.
In addition to these events, the road has welcomed bars such as Dark Forest Craft Beer Tribe and Hideout Bistro. It is now home to around 50 bars, including craft beer and cocktail bars.
Guiyang has developed nine liquor and food streets, including Qingyun Road, Caozhuangyuan Street, and Taiping Road. This ensures 43 A-level scenic spots in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area feature baijiu experience stores.
It has also explored the fusion of alcoholic beverages with local cuisine, introducing 20 new dishes.
A Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce representative stated that authorities will use brand marketing, new product launches, and roadside concerts to further integrate alcohol with tourism, culture, dining, technology, finance, education, research, and ecology.
