A cooking competition kicked off at Yueliang Lake Park in Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on April 6, to commemorate the cherry blooming season.
At the venue, chef teams from various universities, hotels, restaurants, and folk food masters demonstrated their frying, stir-frying, cooking, and deep-frying skills, as well as dough sculpture and melon carving techniques.

"The banquet dishes need to highlight the characteristics of Guizhou in terms of ingredients, shapes, flavors, and aromas," said Huang Chunhong, chief judge of the competition and vice president of the Guizhou Cuisine Association. Apart from showcasing skills, the competition aimed to promote Guizhou cuisine, hoping to attract more people to appreciate Guizhou through its culinary delights.

Excellent dishes from the sour, spicy, innovative, and banquet dish categories each produced one star winner, two gold prize winners, and three silver prize winners. Star and gold prize winners will be recognized as Guiyang Craftsmen.
