On Aug 28, Guizhou's regional public brand for fruit, "Guiguo" (meaning Guizhou fruit in English), was released in Guiyang, the province's capital city, under the guidance of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guizhou Province.
The brand's mascot was also released on the same day, and 16 related enterprises signed cooperation project agreements. In addition, the brand's first promotion meeting for local passion fruit was also held.
The brand was set up to improve Guizhou fruit's national influence, reputation, and market penetration rate, and contribute to the local fruit industry's high-quality development and rural vitalization.
The fruit industry is among the province's 12 unique agricultural industries and has entered a crucial development phase. In 2022, Guizhou's total fruit output (roxburgh rose fruit output was excluded) rose 8.17 percent to about 6 million metric tons, worth 35.9 billion yuan ($4.99 billion).
Last year, Guizhou's plum and blueberry growing areas ranked first in China, and those for kiwi and passion fruit took third in the nation.
