Statistics released on June 24 suggested that during the Dragon Boat Festival, orders by tourists traveling to Guiyang surged by 117 percent.
In addition, the festival this year took place around the same time as the summer holiday, and social groups such as college graduates and school students released their consumption potential just before the summer holiday began.
The destinations most popular among Guiyang residents were Chongqing, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, Zunyi, Bijie and Chengdu.
Unlike the revenge tourism that occurred during the May Day holiday, tourists this time tended towards more relaxing trips.
"The past two weeks saw an obvious increase in sightseers, and I worked until midnight. Some tourists have even already placed orders for the National Day holiday in October," said Xiao Bin, a tour guide.
High temperatures during the festival made attractions on the coast or mountains more appealing to travellers.
