At a news conference on May 15 during which more details were released about the upcoming "Cool Guiyang, 520" shopping festival, Liu Lisha, head of the Guiyang bureau of commerce, answered journalists' questions on how the bureau will arrange the festival, and what kind of preferential policies will be rolled out on a targeted basis.
Brand consumption will be the main focus of the festival. Sales promotions will be held for famous consumer brands in such fields as cosmetics, jewelry, accessories, clothing, shoes and hats.

Immersive trial runs and livestreaming activities will be held to boost car sales.
A "green consumption" point system will also be set up, and the government is expected to procure sustainable products to promote a healthy and low-carbon lifestyle.
Meanwhile, a series of sales activities will be held, such as one that offers savings of 520 yuan ($74.67 yuan) on sustainable house appliances whenever 5,200 yuan is spent.
Efforts will be made to create a food map for Guiyang's special districts and blocks to demonstrate the city's specialties and stylistic restaurants. Tourism products, such as Guizhou tea, liquors and herbs, will also be promoted to targeted consumer groups.
