Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province initiated a shopping festival that started this month and will last until February next year in order to stimulate market vitality and boost consumption.
The government has issued shopping coupons, guided enterprises to roll out discount programs, and launched cross-industry promotional campaigns to increase enthusiasm.
"Our center's sales have been beefed up by the Double Eleven festival, and business owners here are more confident about the future," said a director of a local shopping mall in the district. The center reported a year-on-year sales increase of 2 percent but reported a 35-percent drop in visitors from the same period last year.
The shopping festival reportedly includes retail, accommodation, catering and entertainment.
