The Guiyang Shared Agricultural Innovation City in Baiyun district, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, is set to officially open to the public on Jan 16, according to local media reports on Jan 12. Business operators in the innovation city are now preparing for the opening.

As a major welfare project in Baiyun district, the innovation city will develop agricultural and related products as well as offer cold-chain logistics, e-commerce platforms, business offices and catering. The project was launched in August 2018 and completed in July last year.

Occupying an area of about 150,000 square meters, it will make it more convenient for procurers from community farm produce markets, restaurants, hotels, and canteens to purchase agricultural products.

"These procurers usually buy a small but diverse sampling of products, for which they have to visit various different markets. The innovation city features all kinds of ingredients and items for catering businesses. This will significantly shorten their procurement period and reduce their costs," said one staff member in charge of the innovation city.

Different areas with different functions are present inside the innovation city, including those for sea food, frozen food, imported food materials, seasonings, eggs, meat, and vegetables. A total of 780 stalls have been put in place.

The innovation city also features a 50,000-cubic-meter cold storage, a headquarters building, an e-commerce incubator, an agricultural product quality testing center, and over 6,000 parking spaces.
