The Big Data Expo, which this year was successfully held from May 26 to 28, has become a new calling card for Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
For big data firms, it is a global feast of industry development; for ordinary people, it is a precious opportunity to catch a glimpse of the future.
Boasting four themed exhibition pavilions, seven high-end dialogue sessions and 19 specialized forums, the expo gathered leading figures, scholars and experts from around the globe to discuss the future of the digital economy.
As the first worldwide large-scale big data exhibition platform, the expo has been supported since 2015 by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Guizhou Provincial People's Government.
The expo is characterized by its global perspective, its national standing, its industrial viewpoint and its enterprise stands, and it has become a globally significant occasion where potential business partners meet and advanced technologies are showcased.
Visitors to this year's expo were able to experience the convenience created by digital science in different scenarios – education, medical services, city landscaping and so on.
Through the expo, Guizhou gained a first-move advantage for its big data industry, rapidly growing from "zero" to "one". Next, it will seek to achieve an exponential leap – from "one" to "infinity".
